Your Research. One Profile. Ready when you are.

CtrlCV is the academic CV builder for researchers. Your work stays the same. Requirements don't. CtrlCV handles that.

Everyone wants a different format. You shouldn't have to start from scratch every time.

Researchers spend hours re-entering the same information for every grant, every institution, every review cycle. Not because the information changes — but because every submission wants it arranged differently.

CtrlCV gives you one place to keep it all. Your single source of truth, ready to generate a clean, consistent CV whenever you need one.

The top of a CV exported from CtrlCV: the researcher's name, title and research interests, then personal information with office address, phone numbers, email, web profiles and academic identifiers.

Built to give you time back for what matters.

CtrlCV is an academic CV builder. You keep your research record in one structured profile, with 17 sections covering publications, presentations, funding, teaching, mentorship, service, awards and more. Connect your ORCID iD to import your record, or bring in publications from a BibTeX or RIS file. When you need a CV, pick the sections and entries that fit, star your strongest work for a short version, and export a formatted document in Word or PDF. CtrlCV is free during the beta.

    Frequently Asked Questions

CtrlCV is an academic CV builder. Researchers keep one structured profile and generate clean, professionally formatted CVs on demand — no more reformatting for every grant, institution, or report.

CtrlCV is built for researchers who manage an active academic profile — faculty, clinician scientists, postdoctoral researchers, and research staff who regularly need CVs for grants, promotions, and institutional reporting.

Yes. CtrlCV is your own account, and you can sign up with any email address. Your profile isn't tied to a university or employer, so it stays with you when you change institutions.

Yes. Connect your ORCID iD from directly within your CtrlCV profile. CtrlCV reads the public parts of your record and shows you everything it found, including your education, employment, funding, memberships, service and distinctions, for you to review and import. Your publications can be imported from ORCID too.

Yes. Upload a BibTeX (.bib) or RIS (.ris) file, which most reference managers can export.

    Word (.docx) and PDF.

Unlike static documents, CtrlCV separates your data from its presentation. Your information lives in one place — when you need a CV, you generate it from your profile rather than reformatting a document from scratch.

CtrlCV is free during the beta. We'll give notice before introducing any fees, and we'll never charge you without your agreement.

Your account, profile and exported CVs are stored in Canada. Every request to the app is processed in the United States, and our document-conversion, email, error-monitoring and waitlist providers also operate there. Our Privacy Policy has the details.

Built by people who understand research.

CtrlCV was founded by people who have seen firsthand how much time researchers lose to administrative tasks. We believe that time belongs in the lab, the clinic, and the field — not reformatting CVs.
